About Your Boi

I am not going to write this bio in the third person because I’m the one creating this website and not some marketing team. I can’t imagine sitting here and writing, “He was born June 16th in Evansville, Indiana.” Plus those are not the things you would like to know about me anyway. Here goes some brief dialogue on my music and myself.

I’ve always been into music. I have sung in some capacity since I was a little kid. I started trying to write songs about the age of 12. I did not start giving it a serious go until I was in high school in 2015-18 when I was, well, 15-18. There are perks to being born in the year 2000. I was in the band programs all through those years and would sit in the practice rooms just working on writing music for hours after school. At this point, It was just piano and voice. In starting to learn how to write music I would listen to and break down other people’s music to figure out why I like what I like. I’m a sucker for a good lyric. I discovered early on that if any part of my music is going to be good I want it to be the lyrics. During high school is when I first downloaded music software and started using it. I was no good but I was happy to be learning. You can still find Ode to Debbie which is technically my first published song lol. It was a satirical song about a lunch lady and band mom named Debbie that would help often and was known for her ham and cheese sandwiches.

Coming out of high school and slowly becoming more proficient with my music software I knew I wanted to put something out there. After several months of work in 2018, I finally released Night Sky Project. I learned so much from making this project. Also, a little fun fact, none of the tracks were mixed or mastered at all. Chances are if you understand what those two processes entail you could probably tell while listening. The songs on this are very raw to me. I did not know what type of music I wanted to write, I simply wrote what I could. I did not write this with the intent of it being, “my sound.” This was very exploratory writing whatever I could get to sound good to my ear.

There was a time when recording and writing were very hard due to my military service. When I arrived home I was more eager than ever to get more music published as I felt I had made progress. Then came 143. This EP let me practice writing and doing things the right way. Mixing and Mastering for instance. Every time I would write a song I would have to throw away an old one because I was just iteratively getting better. I’m proud of this EP and is just the beginning of what I will be making. So whats next… Live drums, rap-singing, and more elaborate compositions. I can’t wait for you to hear it.
